So. I got a chance to finally really sit down this morning and experiment with 200cc (online and local) and it's really fun. It's got some pros and cons. Feels like originally this game was never intended to be played at this speed and it was something they kinda just threw in. Great new way to play, but some course designs are clearly not made to be played at 200cc. The metagame changes completely with this new speed class. Letting go of the gas pedal button and breaking are now crucial. That B Button you never ever used (I actually still don't) is now your friend. Fire Hopping and items that increase speed/acceleration all of a sudden seem less appealing. If you were a racer who didn't care for handling and traction well good luck to you, those two stats just became a helluva lot more important. Switching up the weight class and wheels you use might be a good idea. Experiment with what works and figure out what is best for you. It takes a lot more skill to play at this level and since the races are much quicker, items don't help much. So for the people who rely on dumb item luck more than actual skill...stick to 150cc. 200cc is for the big boys.
