If you guys know me I'm a pretty big fan of the BLACK MAMBA. Kobe BEAN Bryant. The man just won an Oscar for Best Animated Short called Dear Basketball. And if you haven't seen it, it's beautiful. It's about his unconditional love for the game and how he gave his all for basketball because he loved it. But while his mind and heart can take the beating, his body can't take anymore...so he's letting it go. Truly inspirational stuff but I want to kind of talk about why it was important to me.
I am no Kobe Bryant, not even close but I was a very talented athlete for my whole life. And now that that's behind me, creating content, art, writing is my passion. I want to make cool shit that make people think, make people feel. When you're talent at something, and excel in it, once it's over people tend to count yo out. They told Bryant he'd just be sad once his career was over but no, he wakes up everyday ready to write, to get in the studio. The result? A goddamned Oscar. I kind of subscribed to this idea for a while because sports, specifically soccer was the only thing I really thought I was good at. But I think I have a lot more to offer and I hope to one day be able to share my creativity with the world.
Kobe said the Oscar he won is better than any championship he's ever one and I feel that. I think if you are a decorated athlete, there comes a time where you start to look at your accomplishments, medals and trophies and realize how meaningless they are. I'm proud of them and all that but they really don't mean a damn thing to me anymore. My future aspirations lie elsewhere and seeing Kobe succeed like that gives me hope that I can and will reach my new goals someday. Don't shut up and dribble, go out there, create, talk and change the world folks.
